Individual Therapy

Individual therapy, which is sometimes referred to as psychotherapy or counseling, is the process of working one on one with a licensed mental health professional.  Individual therapy is safe, compassionate, collaborative and confidential.  Whether you are coping with major life challenges, childhood trauma,symptoms of depression or anxiety or are inspired to improve yourself in some way, individual therapy can help you achieve your goals.  Depending on the goals you set, you and your therapist may work together for a few sessions or several years.  When issues or mental health symptoms begin to cause distress and interfere with the quality of your life or day-to-day life, it may be time to seek out professional help.

At Vanda, our experienced clinicians are trained to treat a variety of conditions, including: Anxiety, Anger Management, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity, Bereavement/Grief, Career issues, Chronic Pain, Psychiatric Conditions, Child and Adolescent Issues, Depression, Eating Disorders, Sexual Orientation and Identity Issues, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Sexual Abuse, Substance Abuse, Trauma and more.  Everyday concerns such as family and relationship problems, stress and school or work problems can be examined in the context of individual therapy.

Individual therapy sessions typically last between 45 and 60 minutes.  Frequency and duration of therapy will depend largely on your needs, treatment goals, and progress. Many concerns are readily resolved with short-term therapy, and other chronic or more complex concerns require long-term commitment before improvement is realized.
