Individual therapy, sometimes referred to as psychotherapy or counseling, is the process of working one on one with a licensed mental health professional. Individual therapy is safe, compassionate, collaborative and confidential. Whether you are coping with major life challenges, childhood trauma, experiencing symptoms of depression or anxiety or are simply inspired to improve your life, individual therapy can support you in achieving your goals. Depending on the objectives you set, you and your therapist may work together for a few sessions or throughout several years.
Individual therapy sessions typically last between 45 and 60 minutes. The frequency and duration of therapy will largely depend on your needs, treatment goals, and progress. Some concerns are readily resolved with short-term therapy, and other chronic or more complex concerns require long-term commitment before improvement is realized.
